Sunday wrap-up

Sunday wrap-up is today’s blog post topic.

Sunday wrap-up

In follow-up from yesterday’s blog post about the Superbowl themed scrapbooking weekend – it concluded this afternoon and even though it was rainy and cold when leaving it was a great event!   I’m looking forward to sharing in my notes this week in the mail how much fun it was to get to have dedicated time with fellow scrapbookers to do focused work on our projects.    It was very special to hear it announced at lunch that over $600 was raised from the event for the Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry, WARMa non-profit organization that does urgent repairs for elderly, disabled, and low-income homeowners in New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick Counties here in North Carolina.

The Superbowl commercials this evening included Walken Sock Puppet in the ad for Kia!   By the way those are Stance brand socks in the ad, according to this AdWeek article –  “There’s a Story Behind Christopher Walken’s Fancy Sock in the Kia Commercial – Red-hot brand Stance, like the automaker, has ties to the NBA”

TheDailyCourierJan1996“When you take a year off from football, you come back for all the enjoyable moments. When you’re not playing, you miss out on all the highs, but you also miss these disappointments. But I would rather be in the arena to be excited or be disappointed than not have a chance at all. That’s football. That’s why everybody plays it.”

It was fun to come across this newspaper article from The Daily Courier – Jan 14, 1996: “Want Super Bowlmemento?; send a letter via ponies”.

It begins with “Stamp collectors and those fascinated with the romance of the Pony Express will have a chance to combine both interests this month….The 38th annual ride of the Hashknife Pony Express Riders will take off from the Holbrook Ariz., Post Office on Jan. 26.  This year, the riders are carrying the Super Bowl XXX game toss coin and the official football…”

There is still time to get your Valentine’s Day card(s) into the mail tomorrow allowing time for them to get there by Saturday’s mail – next Sunday is Valentine’s Day.

Wishing us all a warmer week ahead!
