25th Annual Myrtle Beach Stamp Show

The fun continues through today for the 25th Annual Myrtle Beach Stamp Show 2017, February 11 & 12.

On this Sunday morning, I’m still beaming with having enjoyed attending my first stamp show yesterday!

In fact, it looked like there might be a stampede at the stamp show given the doors did not open until 10-15 minutes after 10 with a very large queue of us waiting to get in!  There were plenty of well-stocked booths and friendly smiles everywhere I looked. Attendance for the event was free!

With it being the 25th Annual Myrtle Beach Stamp Show there was a cake for the early bird arrivals.  I’ve included a photo upper left of the cake, they were fast with getting it cut but I was able to still get a photo of it!

My stack of stamps purchased at the stamp show for postage use.

Being able to attend with fellow members of my local stamp club – the Wilmington Philatelic Society was a great way to navigate the dealer booths.  I’m using up a lot of stamps with writing letters this month with #InCoWriMo – International Correspondence Writing Month.  It was wonderful to be able to through boxes of stamps sold at face value and purchase more stamps!  On the way to drive over to meet my carpool I was able to drop off five more letters at the Post Office, bringing my total count yesterday for Day 11, to 55 letters written. It was exciting to receive another incoming letter and to see the wax seal on the back of the envelope which made it extra special.  Plans for today include Sunday afternoon letter writing with five more letters. I’m looking forward to getting to use some of my new stamps from the Myrtle Beach Stamp Show!

The sheer joy of being around others who share the same enthusiasm and hobby interest adds to the fun. Still being a beginner with getting back into stamp collecting from a very long absence, I found everyone very willing to help explain and share insights.

Anchors! Anchors! All four of these I was able to purchase at the 25th Annual Myrtle Beach Stamp Show yesterday – from three booths.

If you have a hobby and there is an upcoming show nearby I encourage you to make plans to attend one!

As I conclude today’s blog post, I’m wanting to thank the organizers of the Myrtle Beach Stamp Show for their planning, and the vendors participating making it a fun event! And thank you to my stamp club buddies Jimmy, Andy, and Gene for the great camaraderie on our road trip yesterday!

Join me tomorrow as we kick off the new week – and yes it is Valentine’s Week!

Anchors Aweigh,

Helen
