Quilting Postmarks

Quilting Postmarks is our Tuesday, May 10th blog post topic today along with “The Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt Coloring Book”, and an update on Cuddy’s Quilt!

Quilting Postmarks

Last week, on May 03, I included sharing the Current May Pictorial Postmarks Available  which includes 18 Postmaster stations for the Tri-River Historical Museum Network.   Given today is all about Quilts I wanted to make sure my Quilting friends saw these envelope quilting postmarks are still available.

These cancels are dated April 30, 2016 so you have 30 days from the date of the cancel to submit a request. The Postal Bulletin includes instructions on how to request them and where to send.

“The Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt Coloring Book”

Quilting PostmarksLast June we covered ‘The Farmer’s Wife 1930s Sampler Quilt: Inspiring Letters …’  by Laurie Aaron Hird.

This commemorative coloring book being shared here today is titled:  “The Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt Coloring Book: Color 70 Classic Quilt Designs from Your Favorite Sampler Collection” and was published on February 29, 2016.

“…These coloring pages depict many of the same beautiful blocks reinterpreted in line-art illustrations, creating coloring pages to delight quilt-lovers everywhere. Also included are 7 patchwork designs that capture the American quilting spirit. The perforated pages include highly detailed fabric designs to color, offering you the simple joy of creative expression…”

It has been very enjoyable to flip through its pages.

What I’m waiting for is her book she announced on December 30, 2015 and is planned to be released in the fall of 2016 where she has created The Bible Sampler Quilt, with ninety-six Bible passages and each paired with a “Bible themed” six-inch classic quilt block.

Cuddy’s Quilt Update

The 60 x 60 quilt celebrating in memory of Cuddy with his many dog bandanas is completed!  The 12 x 12 square format has turned out beautifully from having the top professionally quilted together! I’m now working on sewing the second quilt top – which is 40 x 40, with 8 x 8 square format which will then also be professionally quilted together.   Stay tuned for its unveiling here soon!

Wishing you a wonderful day ahead and here’s to our making the time to enjoy preserving our memories through our letters, quilts, scrapbooks, stamp collections, fountain pen collections, bird-watching journals, and more!

Helen
