“Rainy Days and Mondays”

Welcome to the new week at AnchoredScraps.com.   With today’s rainy weather I was recalling songs about this weather and it being Monday.  One of the most poignant songs I know came to mind – “Rainy Days and Mondays” and was recalling Karen Carpenter’s gorgeous voice.   What fun it was today to discover this video with Paul Williams.  He co-wrote the song with Roger Nichols in 1971.

The song was released on the album “Carpenters”, you probably had the album and now have it on CD, known as “The Tan Album”.   The video clip is entitledPaul Williams, Rainy Days & Mondays (Tin Pan South).  The entire clip is 8:30 and at 3:19 he starts recalling his Mom and weaves a beautiful story into it with the song – you really should watch the entire 8 minutes and 30 seconds!  I love how he shares that his experiences he brings into his song writing.   That link takes you to the video clip on the “Official Website of Paul Williams – Singer, Songwriter, Actor, Author and Recovery Advocate”, (On Twitter @IMPaulWilliams).  Thank you to Paul Williams for his talent and legacy!

You can find out what Paul Williams is up to these days by visiting his site and reading about his current and recent projects including “Gratitude and Trust”: Six Affirmations That Will Change Your Life – there is the book (by Tracey Jackson and Paul Williams), and there are recent podcasts too at that site, (On Twitter @GratitudeTrust)

“…Funny, but it seems I always wind up here with you
Nice to know somebody loves me…”
– from song classic “Rainy Days and Mondays”

The rain is now subsiding and I’m inspired to get out my fountain pens and write a few snail mail letters this evening to cherished family and friends AND new pen pals!  I’ve got to find out how the live performance of “Camelot!” was that Mom was going to see over the weekend.  It was a delight today to be rewarded for venturing out to the mailbox between rain downpours to be greeted with two snail mails – so I’m making some time to write a few letters this evening and maybe you will too!  Wishing you a great kick-off to the new week!

Anchors Aweigh,

Helen
